This is just a bit of random weirdness that popped into my head as an
idea. No plot, no coherence, no real scenes, just the problem:

What would Batman do in the world of Dark Kingdom Rising -- not as a
demon, but if he was a resident?

Would he interviene early in things, and if so, would he be convinced,
or appalled?

Would he leave it alone until the Dark Kingdom set up a CPS office in
Gotham?

-

It would be 1993, just like here, and the DKCPS team would probably
be the same:

Sailor Dirt, Beryl. Just deposed, and full of self-loathing, hoping
this assignment would help. A tall woman with long purple-red hair.

Alexandrite Zervopoulous. Wouldn't have meet Demitra yet, and, since
she wouldn't be in New York, possibly wouldn't, and would thus be just
Alexandrite. Cyan hair, crystiline dark blue eyes that look purple in some
lights, or is it the reverse?

Lee Quai-gun, Mongolian, of Chinese descent, recruited out of the
Mongolian army.

Whitney St. Sair, of New Zealand, recruited out of their police
department.

Noh Jin-Yung, from the (south) Korean National Police.

B.A. Barakas, who "came from somewhere else." A tall,
African-American man who moves, and speaks, like someone with time in the
American army.

With Beryl in charge, they'd go to the darkest part of the country
first, and, in that world, that would be Gotham. There, they'd first search
out the most dangerous person.

The Joker fits that bill pretty well.

Now, in our world, the Army, the CIA, or some concerned citizen would
have taken care of a nail like the Joker, who not only sticks up, but stays in
one place. It might have taken a few tries, but someone would have killed him
within his first ten years as a psychopath.

In that world, he would fall to Beryl.

-

Alexandrite looks up, her body armor light on her reptilian
combat-form, `He's home, brought someone with him, in a sack,' she says into
her radio.

	`Right,' Beryl answers, `Move in.'

-

Beryl catches another minion, and slaps him lightly, dropping him,
unconscious, to the floor.

Alexandrite kicks the Joker again, and a muffled crunch accompanies
him to the floor. She zip-cuffs his hands behind his back before he can get
up, plants a knee in the small of his back, then turns, and zip-cuffs his
feet.

Barakas drags another zip-cuffed minion into the room, dropping him
next to the others.

`We'll start with the leader,' Beryl says, `And --'

`Puddin!' Harley announces, tackling Beryl to the ground.

Beryl quickly subdues her, sits on her back while she zip-cuffs her
hands.

`Alexandrite,' Beryl calls, `catch,' and throws badge, Motorola
half-wave cell-phone, and Sony Pressman to her.

Alexandrite composes herself, then turns to the Joker, who's coughing
up blood from his shattered ribs, dialing a call on the phone, then turning on
the Pressman, `Mister Joker,' she starts.

`Just Joker,' he growls, glaring balefully.

`All right, then, just Joker. You are apprehended under clause 11B of
the Dark Kingdom recognition treaty, signed December 14th 1992, and
ratified on the 20th of January.'

	`Right, right.'

`Would you like a Lawyer, or a psychologist for this proceeding?'

	`No.'

`As witnesses we have Sailor Dirt, Harley Quinn, and Chief Megumi of
the Dark Kingdom Child Protective services. Do you understand why you have
been apprehended?'

	`Because I'm a danger to kids, perhaps?'

`Right. Who's the kid in the bag?'

`Nobody, some rich visitor's son, promised to send him back in parts
if he didn't give me a lot of money.'

	`Would you have?'

	`Yes.'

	`Why?'

	`Because it would be funny.'

`Would you do ever stop doing things like this?'

	`No.'

	`Why not?'

`Will you continue to endanger children?'

	`Yes.'

`Are you sure of what will happen next, and are you sure that you
don't want a lawyer or a psychologist?'

	`Yes.'

`Here,' and Alexandrite helps him up to his knees, then steps back,
`Make your peace with your gods, and look up.'

He stares up at her, `What?'

`Make your peace, repent your sins, whatever you feel you need to do,'
Alexandrite says, and unsnaps the thumb break on her .45.

	`Oh, I don't need any of that.'

`Right,' Alexandrite gulps, then draws, aims, unsafes and fires in a
single, practiced motion.

	`Puddin?' Harley whimpers.
